transcript of the comments and introduction made by Susan Guess: How many of us feel strongly about an issue, feel really committed to something? Now, how many of us are willing to put our time and money where our heart is? Years from now, one of our city's most successful leaders will be remembered for a great many things - the company he started, his energy and enthusiasm, his political savvy. But his most enduring legacy may be his involvement in education and business initiatives that will impact our community for years to come. He's been chairman of almost every major community organization from the Chamber and Rotary Club to Boy Scouts and Easter Seals. He was instrumental in securing the Engineering School and Challenger Center at PCC. He led the Library Foundation effort for a fully funded County-wide Library System. He's not afraid to take on controversial issues. Even now -- 17 years after his service as head of the Chamber -- he's leading the Regional Roundtable priority. The West KY Leadership Summit will kick-off in 2002 after extensive planning this past year. He's served as the City of Paducah attorney for over 21 years and is founder of Denton & Keuler Law Firm. Please join me in congratulating our Distinguished Citizen for 2002, David Denton! |
