Since returning to his hometown in 1995, Denton has
been very active in civic affairs. He has been involved
with the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce since 1999 and
was named chairman of the board in 2003. During his
term, he started the first Paducah Area Chamber of
Commerce "D.C. Fly-In" through which the Chamber took 33
business and community leaders to Washington, D.C. and
held 21 meetings with key elected officials, including
the entire Kentucky Congressional delegation and cabinet
leaders, including Labor Secretary Elaine Chao. The
"D.C. Fly-In" is now an annual regional effort.
Denton has served as past treasurer of the McCracken
Country Bar Association, chairman of the Paducah Summer
Festival Committee, chairman of the McCracken County
Democratic Party and as a board member of the Greater
Paducah Economic Development Council.
Since 1997, he also has acted as president of the
Chase College of Law Alumni Association, Western
Kentucky Chapter. He served as an adjunct professor of
real estate at Paducah Community College from 1999
through 2002.
Denton currently serves as a director of The Paducah
Bank and Trust Company, an independently-owned community
bank that is the 17th largest in Kentucky. He is also
serving as a director of the Paducah-McCracken County
Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Denton is married to Heather Hallmark Denton, also a
1995 Chase graduate, and they have two children - Will
and Grace.
The Gala was part of the second annual Chase Alumni
Weekend, which also featured a legal education program,
golf outing and class reunion gatherings. Also honored at the award ceremony were Chase
Lifetime Achievement Award recipient The Honorable
Lambert L. Hehl ('52); Chase Gold Medallion Award
recipients Alan C. Stout ('81) and LaJuana S. Wilcher
('80); Chase Exceptional Service Award recipient William
C. Knapp ('79); and Chase Outstanding Recent Alumnus
Award recipient Donna M. Bloemer ('94), James C. Frooman '90, President of Chase Alumni Association. |
