Melissa Yates Wins National Fitness Competition

Denton and Keuler's Melissa Yates recently won a national fitness contest sponsored by Ultimate Bodyshaping Course (UBC). The UBC is a ten- week program that includes martial arts fitness classes (fitness kickboxing, cardio kickboxing, cardio karate), a resistance training routine, and a sound nutritional program and diet.

National contest winners are chosen by the following:
(1) Greatest change in their appearance, (2) A fitness evaluation, and (3) An essay about fitness.

Melissa was interviewed regarding the achievement by WPSD-TV of Paducah on January 21, 2008. She states that a great deal of self discipline was involved along with the determination to meet a goal.

Speaking about the program, Melissa says, "Previously, I treated fitness as though it were simply another goal to accomplish. Being a Type A personality, I tend to see tasks as things to accomplish and then move on... However, over the past few weeks I feel that I’ve begun to fully appreciate that fitness is not a goal but a journey. It’s about progress and not about reaching a state where I can just stop exercising and eating right. I have also realized that there’s a connection between what I put into my body and what I can achieve with it... By making health and fitness a priority, I realize that I’m better able to meet all of the demands placed on me because I feel so much better than I did before... I feel that I’ve finally found the right path to achieve a fit and healthy lifestyle."

She plans to continue her involvement in UBC by coaching the next team of participants.
