Curia advisari vult; or, in the vernacular, "the court wishes to be advised," as do the scores of clients whose testimonies would clearly demonstrate both the rhetorical and legal acumen of Denton & Keuler firm member, Douglas Moore. Doug's interest in the law began during his early collegiate studies when he was introduced to the art of rhetoric in ancient Greece. A fortunate encounter since he loves to argue, as he will candidly admit. He has a stunning array of arguments to his credit, possessing more than 15 years of public service in the prosecution and defense of criminal cases. Doug's extensive litigation experience in the criminal arena has given him the appropriate background for his current work in defending class action suits involving constitutional and civil rights violations. Make no mistake, Doug knows of what he speaks.
In addition to a law degree from the University of Louisville and a Master of Arts from Murray State University, Doug recently received a Ph.D. in English from Southern Illinois University. |

"Language shapes the way we think, and determines what we can think about," said Benjamin Lee Whorf. What could be more intriguing than the power of language to shape reality, Doug Moore believes. It is this deep respect and intense inquisitiveness about the consequences of words that has led Doug to this place in time and this choice of professional pursuit.
But man does not live by words alone. He must also have physical stimulation and a bit of fresh air. That leads Doug, on occasion, to grab his bike and head for the trails around western Kentucky and southern Illinois for some time in the great outdoors.

"Obviously my passion is literature, but reading a great poem or novel can be a rather selfish pursuit. How to bring that personal devotion to my field of endeavor? Draw on the literature of life. Every client has an argument to make, and what I try to bring to my legal work is a single-minded devotion to the task of getting that argument right. To do this, a lawyer must possess many skills--critical, analytical, rhetorical--and bring each to bear on the issue at hand. Anything less is a disservice."
