The Paducah Summer Festival is compressing.

After spreading across 10 days each July in recent years, the festival this year will pack everything into four days July 26-29.

"The festival was a three-day event when it first started and it has evolved over the years into a full week festival," marketing director John Pace said.

"We felt it was time for a change. When the summer festival started it was the only festival in the tri-state area. Now there seems to be a festival in the area every weekend. We're trying to change it up and spice it up a little bit."

Pace said the popular riverfront concerts will still be held each night of the festival.
