Library honors Denton's service

The McCracken County Public Library's Quiet Reading Room has been dedicated in the name of former library board chairman Dave Denton, who stepped down from the board last summer.

Serving from 1992-2006, Denton oversaw an increase in library usage from 12,000 people a month in 1992 to 31,000 today. Circulation also went from 220,740 items a year in to 616,207 last year.

Denton, a Paducah attorney, also helped the library go from being a city institution to one for the county, giving it financial stability. The newly named W. David Denton Reading Room is on the first floor, beyond the computer terminals.
