Partner Melissa Yates Honored as a Life Fellow for the Kentucky Bar Foundation

August, 2009

Partner Melissa Yates was recently honored as a 2009 Life Fellow for the Kentucky Bar Foundation, Inc.

The Kentucky Bar Association Fellows Program recognizes those members of the Kentucky Bar who through their generosity in contributing to the Kentucky Bar Association have shown support for its mission. The program is designed to build an Endowment Fund that will be the cornerstone for funding KBF's grants in future years.

The Kentucky Bar Association has given $541,257 since 1988 to agencies promoting justice and law-related education for Kentuckians. The Kentucky Bar Association has at times also developed its own projects toward this mission. Foundation support has positively affected lives and the administration of justice through programs that include:

•  educating children about law and the justice system
•  helping teens-at-risk and children in court
•  assisting abused women and children
•  explaining legal issues and rights to the elderly
•  providing mediation training
•  addressing law-related needs of persons with disabilities
•  providing funding to various CASA programs
•  preserving legal history
